Each track and track day provider will have additional rules. Please look at the rules on their website, if you are unsure about any specific rule, either call or send the track day provider an email.
Braking:
When you decide it is time to slow down for the corner, sit up to signal to anyone behind you that you are slowing down. This becomes
more important in the faster groups especially when you are one of the slower riders. This will help avoid getting hit from behind as
there are no brake lights.
Stopping On The Track:
Never stop on the track unless directed to so. If your buddy crashes in front of you, do NOT stop to help them. An official will come
and help them out. Many accidents can be caused by riders stopping on the track, don't become one of these track causalities. If the
crash hasn't been reported or noticed then exit the track and report the incident to the track marshal.
At some tracks like Thunderhill, you will be required to stop on the track for red flags. If this should happen put
your left arm in the air to signal that you are doing something out of the ordinary, pull to the right side of the track, and slowly
come to a stop. Pay attention during the riders meeting when they are going over flags to find out what you should do in the event of
a red flag. At MMP, you will go around the track at a slower pace until you get to the track exit, at which point you will exit the
track. Once in the hot pit, you will be instructed to either wait, or head back to your pit area.
Signaling When Doing Anything Unusual:
When ever you are going to do something that is unpredictable, put your left hand in the air to let any riders around you know that you
are doing something unusual. Also if you come across a yellow, red, or checkered flag signal before doing anything. Never assume
any riders around you saw the flag.
Passing:
At all times you are expected to be safe, and in control of your bike. In the "B" and "C" groups where there is a 6 foot bubble rule,
you will be expected to keep 6 feet in every direction away from any other rider. If you are unsure if you can safely pass and maintain
the 6 foot bubble, then don't make the pass. Once again pay attention during the riders meeting to get group specific passing
instructions.
Entering And Exiting The Track Properly:
Always make sure you are entering for the right group. Some track day providers will have a sign next to the track
marshal that displays the current group. After the track marshal allows you to enter the track, always look down the track to make
sure nobody is coming down the track while you are entering. Once you have entered the track stay to the far right side of the track
and DO NOT get on the race line for turn one. There may be a rider coming up on you that you didn't see, and because your on your warm
up lap, chances are you will be going much slower than they are. Following this simple rule will help avoid many accidents. Follow this
rule even on the first lap when everyone is going out on the track - knowing that nobody will be coming up behind you.
When exiting the track, make sure you decide it is time for a break 3 - 4 turns in advance. Get your left hand up in
the air, or put your leg out to signal to other riders around know to be cautious. Stay as far to the right as you can when exiting to
allow other riders to safely get around you.
Paddock/Parking Lot Speed Limit:
The speed limit is 5mph. Save your speed for the track, and obey the speed limits in the paddock/parking lot.
Never Fuel On The Asphalt:
Never put your gas cans on the asphalt in the paddock or fuel your bikes on the asphalt. Gas dissolves and eats the asphalt. Failure
to obey this rule could cause you to be ejected from the event by the track owners.
Waivers:
All riders, guests and spectators will be required to sign a waiver before being allowed into the track. All tracks have designated
spectator areas and these guidelines should be followed at all times.
Clean Up After Yourself:
At the end of the day you need to leave your garage or pit area the same way you found them. Some tracks will charge you a fee if they
have to pick up after you. Also make sure everything in your pit is secured before leaving to ride on the track. Others shouldn't have
to pick up your trash, tools, or belongings should the wind decide to move them for you.
