Sleep:
The night before your track day you will want a good night sleep. If you don't get a good night of sleep you will notice that you will
start to make a lot of mental mistakes. Riding on the track is as much mentally challenging as it is physically.
Hydration:
If you are dehydrated, you will not be alert while on the track. You should start preparing for this the day before your track day. Make
sure you bring plenty of water and/or gatorade. If you start to get a headache then you are starting to become dehydrated. Get off the
track, take a salt tablet and drink more water. Riding while dehydrated is dangerous, so drink more water than what you think you need.
If you start to get cramps while riding, either take a potassium tablet or eat a banana.
Tires:
It is important to properly heat up your tires on the first lap. If you are not using tire warmers, then you need to be extra cautious
on the first lap or two until your tire carcass is at temperature. To properly heat up your tires, you need to accelerate heavily to heat
up the rear tire, and brake hard to heat up the front tire. Note, that weaving from side to side will not heat up your tires, but it will
clean off your tires. As you go around the track gradually lean more through your corners. It may take more than one lap to heat up your
tires, but make sure you do so. You don't want to end your day on the first lap of any session because you crashed from cold tires.
Children & Pets:
If the track allows pets, then you need to keep them on a leash at all times. You also need to closely supervise your children as there
is a lot of traffic in the paddock.
